SCHOLARSHIP CRITERIA/ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT
Entrance scholarships to the U of M include students’ averages in the best of five approved 40S courses.
ADMISSION PROCEDURES:
Students must meet the general entrance requirements of each university. Each university sets application deadlines. Meeting these deadlines, along with achieving an excellent academic standing, qualifies students for entrance scholarships. APPLY EARLY!!!
UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA ENTRANCE SCHOLARSHIPS
These awards will be made available to students with outstanding academic averages.
Advanced Early Admissions Application deadline - Dec. 1 (based on Grade 11 marks for the present school year) Value $1,700
An excellent Grade 11 average (minimum 92.5%) based on five full courses including: English 30S and Math 30S.
The best three from:
Biology 30S
History 30S
Chemistry 30S
Geography 30S
Physics 30S
Language 30S (other than English)
*an interim Grade 12 average at or above a predetermined threshold, initially to be set at 90%. Students whose interim Grade 12 average is 95% or higher will have their award value increased to $2,000.00. This Grade 12 average is to be based on courses used for the University of Manitoba Entrance Scholarship.
Early Admission Application Deadline/ Entrance Scholarship - February 1
No separate scholarship application is required.
A minimum 85% average over five 40S courses from the following list in different subject areas (The only exception allowed is with English courses where English 40G can be used, and where two English credits can be counted.)

Social Studies: World Issues 40S
One of Applied Math 40S or Pre-Cal 40S

Foods and Nutrition 40S
One of Canadian Aboriginal Language 41G, Deutsch 40S, Filipino 40S, French/Francais 40S (if not used in lieu of English/Anglais 40S), German 40S, Hebrew 40S, Icelandic 40S, Italian 40S, Japanese 40S, mandarin 40S, Polish 40S, Portuguese 40S, Spanish 40S, Ukrainian 40S (Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate or dual credit standing is considered as 40S for award purposes.)
