PLANNING FOR UNIVERSITY/COLLEGE
GRADE 11 and GRADE 12 STUDENTS
Scholarships and bursaries are an excellent way to boost financial resources. This website is a good place to start to discover awards available to St. Boniface Diocesan High School students. Other places you might wish to explore include: employers, parents’ employers or unions, service organizations, community groups, and the internet.
Students wanting scholarships must be vigilant throughout the school year. It is the student's responsibility to complete scholarship applications correctly and meet deadline dates.
FINDING AWARDS
What’s the difference between a scholarship and a bursary? Theoretically, scholarships are awarded based on academic performance. Bursaries always have a component of financial need. In reality, many awards use a combination of the two criteria. Awards may also combine other criteria (ie. leadership ability, sports and community involvement). You may also find that some people use the words interchangeably, so that what is called a scholarship may have a financial need component. So when researching awards, read the eligibility criteria and selection procedures carefully to see whether you are eligible.
There are many excellent sites available for students to research careers and scholarships. The following is a list of these sites. For more information and the links to the website, just select the title of the page you are looking for.
